Saturday November 4th 2023 - Blue Run Rocks Trail - near Sabinsville PA - 4 miles, about 670 foot elevation gain
This was a wonderful hike as evidenced by the large number of pictures we took though I am only posting a handful . I found it on All Trails and it's kind of unusual in that it isn't part of some obvious park, state or national forest or even a game lands. It was just a sign on the side of a gravel road and I have no idea who manages this piece of land.
The trail started off gently going downhill for about 1.5 miles along a beautiful stream with little babbling falls and a steep hill behind it. The stream was almost always within view but we never actually crossed it or got close enough for it to be really accessible. It was kind of an atmospheric stream for an atmospheric hike. We didn't see another person or even a car go by the trailhead during the time we were there.
The end of the trail is a small balloon and it was surprisingly steep. It went straight up the side of a good sized hill then meandered around the top of the hill a bit before swinging down the other side of the hill through an unexpected rock garden. These boulders and outcroppings were massive, several times our height. Some had overhangs or little gaps between them which I'm sure would be a delight for children though I suspect not a lot of them end up doing this hike.
