Sunday, January 8th 2023 - Swallow Hollow Nature Trail near Alabama NY - About 3.5 miles, no elevation gain

This trip started out as nothing more than a pin drop on my google maps.  In browsing around the maps I had noticed this trail and it has a few intriguing photos of boardwalks over wetlands.  It was a longer drive from home than I imagined (about an hour 5 minutes, slightly less if we paid a toll to use I-90) and I hoped it wasn't a comically short walk.  Thankfully the loop around the mostly frozen pond was fascinating and we were able to add on another mile or so across the road at a state wildlife preserve.  Swallow Hollow is part of the Iroquois National Wildlife Preserve.

It was a pretty straight forward little walk. I did appreciate the extensive boardwalks.  We ate lunch at the very busy Cracker Barrel on the way home.
