October 8th 2022 - Fall road trip Days 1 and 2 - Near Sarnia Ontario (on border with Michigan) - short hike

We had a Michigan trip planned a few years ago but circumstance caused us to drop it and turn it into a much shorter trip somewhere else.  The drive over through Niagara falls was very easy once we got off I-90 which was very busy and had some stop and go sections since we left at 4:30 pm on a nice fall Friday.  The border crossing line was tedious but they didn't feel the need to pick our car apart so it was soon enough over with.

Unfortunately, I'm suffering through a very uncomfortable cold, the first real solid nasty cold I've had in 3 years or more.  I did take a COVID test and it was negative so at least it's seemingly just garden variety stuff.  After our late arrival (11 pm) we slept in until almost 9 am which is very unusual.  We had an amazing bagel from The Bagel Factory hear in Sarnia.  Brian went in and picked something out for me so I didn't hate to expose myself to people.  He got me a ham and cheese bagel on a bacon and cheese bagel with chipotle sauce.  It sounds like too much but it was awesome.

I had several hikes bookmarked as possibilities for this trip but my current condition meant that a big hike was not a good idea.  We went to Rock Glen conservation trail near Arkona, Ontario.  What a cool little gem of a spot. hundreds of stairs leading in and out of a deep gorge with a creek in it.  There wasn't a roaring large amount of water to be seen this time but the fall color was amazing and there were just a handful of people there.
