October 2nd - Letchworth State Park - Near Castile NY - 7 miles about 800 feet elevation gain
This was a group hike with the Foothills trail club. Brian didn't go but I needed a good hike after my week pent up working in New Jersey. I haven't joined them for a walk in over a year and I was surprised to see 13 people show up at the very early hour of 8:30 am. Most of the Foothills members are in or near Buffalo and Letchworth is South of both Rochester and Buffalo but not particularly close to either.
We staged a few cars and began our hike just outside the park entrance, following some lightly used and rerouted trails back into the park under the impressive modern railroad arch bridge. There was a nice start to some fall colors all along the way. As we got into the more developed areas of the park there were a few more people and when we got near inspiration point, a lot more.
It was a really good day and a satisfying social as well as fitness activity.
