Saturday May 8th, 2021 - Herb Parsons Lake - Near Collierville TN - About 7 miles - Little elevation gain

This is a favorite somewhat hidden gem of a park near Collierville.  They were just extending TN-385 when I left Memphis years ago but now that section is complete so the park is somewhat easier for people to get to but still just far enough away that there wasn't really any road noise and some sense of solitude.

The hike makes a very nice loop around the lake which has many little fingers that increase the mileage. The trail is mostly well marked with non-standard colored arrow blazes. The Yellow trail seems to go on every possible extra diversion, the Green and Red always seemed to be on the same path and stayed as close to the water as possible.  It was surprisingly brisk  when we started the hike.  My shorts felt like an unfortunate costuming department error and I was thankful John had an extra sweatshirt in his vehicle.

The hike was very enjoyable.  It did warm up as we went and the few showers that greeted us at the start were gone quickly.  A lovely send off to my brief time with a friend of many years.
