This week has been rough. For whatever reason I've been antsier and less able to concentrate. So I asked if I could slip away for several hours to do a hike since I didn't have much going on at work anyway and the weather was perfect. What a wonderful piece of land. Parts of the trail are so close to
NY-590 that you can hear the cars rushing by but parts of it are peaceful and tranquil with beautiful wetlands. And the terrain was fantastic. Up and down, in and out of ravines, lots of narrow trails perched on the side of hills. I loved it.
For whatever reason (rememberer that concentration thing?) I had a terrible time following this trail on the
Alltrails app. The trail was very very roughly a figure 8 but I ended up doing the closer part of the 8 twice (at least 1 half of the closer half) and then the bigger far away half of the 8 I worked really hard on but somehow got turned around and then my phone went blank and wouldn't reboot for 15 minutes and by the time it decided to come back on again I was off track and missed part of the second half of the figure 8. Still, it was a very athletic hike with lots of ups and downs and a lot of variety for a relatively small barely suburban park.

There was a weird half underground little in this little trench which was weird because the trail was pretty unspoiled and natural everywhere else. |
