Sunday May 10 - Chateaugay State Forest - Near Pulaski NY - About 4.2 miles, 420' elevation gain
This was a hike I'd been wanting to do for a while from our 50 Hikes in Central New York book. The description for the hike talked about stone walls and the farming past of this area. We left early. When we arrived to the start of the hike after a relaxing but long 2.5 hour drive, we were immediately greeted with logging mess and trail closure signs. Thankfully a friendly local pulled up just as we were getting our boots on and told us which way to go to have a satisfying walk without being impacted by the closures.
The stone walls were frequent and interesting. Their was a lovely stream going through the forest and the trail network was well marked and organized. We saw just one other couple and one single guy hiking. Also, despite being May, this was a winter hike. It was icy on some bridges and quite cold though it was warming up as we hiked out.

The pretty stream was crossed right at the trailhead |
