Monday September 30, 2024 - Grater Woods Preserve - Near Amherst NH - 6.3 miles, about 500 feet elevation gain
This hike was a little out of our way but I wanted to avoid driving up and down I-91 twice so we went over into New Hampshire for this hike after leaving our really wonderful B&B in Quebec and having breakfast with Brian’s family. The whole area was remarkably clean and tidy. One of the ponds had a sizable beaver dam that was cool to see. The trails kind of wiggled back and forth with some almost useless fake switchbacks added just to add mileage but it was still very enjoyable.
The weather was warm and a little humid again. After the hike we went to Bentley’s Roast Beef which was astoundingly delicious. I had a roast beef sandwich with cheese, rosemary French fries and a superb horseradish sauce and some Greek Lemon Chicken soup. It was a very satisfying dinner.
