Road Trips and Hike Reports

This was my 3rd of 4time going back to this same hike.  That's pretty surprising considering that this trail is a considerable 120 miles from our house. but the unique geology (not captured well in my pictures) and the nice network of trails with almost nobody else using them makes for a repeat worthy trip. Our friend Fred was able to join me (Chris) on this trip but Brian was visiting family in Vermont. Alltrails has many great pictures from this trail.  Considering the number of reviews for it, we've maybe just been lucky seeing so few other people on the trail.

This was an interesting hike on a branch of the Finger Lakes Trail that passed through Bucks Brook State Forest .  We got on the road early and the drive East on I-90 and South on I-81 through Syracuse was easy.  There was almost no flat area on any part of this trail.  Parts of the trail were lightly enough used that there was overgrowth but it wasn't hard to navigate. The only downside to this trail is that about 1.5 miles of it is a road walk. The road had a nice stream next to it and was a peaceful forest road but it was also mostly uphill.
